The Ferry Point community is leading an effort to name an integral one-way roadway that traverses under the Whitestone Bridge, as well as obtaining 24-hour vehicular access. Presently the Department of Homeland Security shuts off access to the roadway at night.
If the roadway is named and made fully operational, local leaders say safety concerns caused by its non-name status will subside and traffic pouring into this small community may diminish.
The road is commonly referred to in the Ferry Point community as the Whitestone Bridge ring road, which loops under the bridge
