The Mary Louis Academy

The Mary Louis Academy for young women is a place of academic excellence and intellectual curiosity where the whole person is nurtured and encouraged through a faith-based life.
“Their mission is rooted in the mission of Jesus - to heal, redeem and liberate his people,” said S. Kathleen McKinney, CSJ, principal of the Catholic college preparatory school located in Jamaica Estates. “They strive to reflect this by being a reconciling and non-violent community, fostering unity and all-inclusive love.”
Located at 176-21 Wexford Terrace, the preparatory school for young women is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, New York.
According to S. Kathleen McKinney, Principal, one mission of the academy is to “to empower each student to realize and value her own unique spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and social potential as a leader in today’s society” that has grown increasingly impersonal and technological. The academy seeks to provide an atmosphere which develops leaders who are rooted in Gospel values and committed to creating a just society, she added.
Rigorously academic, the Academy is devoted to creating an intellectual community with low student-teacher ratios where the acquisition of knowledge is put in the context of faith, tolerance, non-violence and cultural diversity.
Assistant Principals are S. Eileen Gildea, CSJ, and S. Filippa Luciano, CSJ.
