As Meyer Chevrolet of Middle Village celebrates its 90th anniversary this spring, it remains one of the few dealers to operate under the same family ownership as the day it first opened in 1919. General Manager W. Danny Meyer, fourth generation, says that the dealership is still an outstanding community fixture due to its involvement in local events and organizations. Sheila Meyer-Margolis, who bridged the gap between the third and fourth generations of Meyer ownership, remains active in the daily operation of Meyer Chevrolet as President, making an effort to ensure that women have a place in the auto industry. Meyer-Margolis was the first woman to be elected to a second term as chair of the Greater New York Automotive Dealers Association, where she still plays a large role today. She is also very involved in the New York State Dealers Association.
