MIDDLE VILLAGE — A 47-year-old Maspeth man was arrested after he allegedly drove drunk and crashed his car into another vehicle in Middle Village, the Queens district attorney said.
Patrick Duignan, of 59-69 69th St. in Maspeth, was arraigned Sept. 7 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Robert Raciti on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, Queens DA Richard Brown said. The defendant, who will return to court Oct. 15, was released on his own recognizance, the DA said.
On Sept. 6, Duignan is alleged to have crashed his 2000 Ford into the front of a Chevrolet automobile at the intersection of 80th Street and Juniper Valley Road in Middle Village, Brown said. He allegedly told a police officer at the scene, “Yeah, I was driving and, yeah, I’ve been drinking,” the DA said.
Duignan is alleged to have been unsteady on his feet with bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, the DA said. Police allegedly found seven opened cans of Coors beer in his vehicle, Brown said.
The defendant allegedly refused an Intoxilyzer exam, the DA said.
