We should never forget that the real heroes are those who risk their lives every day and dedicate themselves to saving lives. Cops, firefighters, EMS workers, doctors, nurses and all our troops fit this description.
If it were not for these dedicated and special people, the rest of us would be up a creek without a paddle. There seems to be a misconception in this country regarding what the word “hero” means. It does not mean a person who hits a baseball, throws a football, bounces a basketball, kicks a soccer ball, hits a hockey puck or swims across a swimming pool.
While athletes are hard-working, they chose their professions. Why does the media insist on focusing on these people with their overpaid salaries, and for some, overinflated egos?
Focus on those who do good deeds for the rest of us. They are the true heroes and heroines.
