Bloomberg to attend second annual
Rising Stars Awards and Networking Event

At each event hosted by The Queens Courier, money is raised to benefit a cause. This year, a raffle for a vacation will be held to assist in the Haitian relief efforts.

Round-trip tickets will be provided courtesy of American Airlines for a four-day/three-night vacation for two to Sandals’ Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa.

The Queens Courier is recognizing 2010’s top 40 business leaders under the age of 40 at the second annual “Rising Stars” Awards and Networking Event.

Presented by American Airlines, with chief sponsor TD Bank, the evening’s festivities – featuring a special guest appearance by Mayor Michael Bloomberg – will be held at Queens Theatre in the Park on Thursday, February 4.

In addition to the 40 awardees, Brandon Elias, a 17-year-old high school senior, will be honored as this year’s “Rookie Rising Star.”

And special recognition will be given to Mary Pappas, The Queens Courier “2009 Person of the Year,” for her expert handling of the H1N1 outbreak that originated at St. Francis Prep.

The evening kicks off with networking opportunities – attendees will be able to exchange business cards and rub elbows with various leaders in the business world. There will be expo tables from many industries.
