Miller brings Assembly to you

Assemblymember Mike Miller has announced the start of “Assembly in Your Area,” a new initiative that features public meetings designed to make his office increasingly accessible to every resident of the 38th Assembly District.
This initiative will bring Miller to popular locations in the community, such as churches and busy street corners, so that the Assemblyman can speak directly with community members and listen to their concerns.
“This new project is about going to the people and listening to what they have to say,”?said Miller. “I depend on the input of my constituents, and people don’t always have time to come to my office.”
The first “Assembly in Your Area” event will be held on Sunday, January 17 at St. Pancras Church, located at 72-22 68th Street in Glendale. Miller will be available after every Mass to hear concerns and speak with community members. On January 24, Miller will attend service at United Methodist Church, located at 64-14 Central Avenue in Glendale, and will be present after the service to meet with concerned churchgoers.
Then, on January 27, Miller will host a forum on property tax assessment in conjunction with the New York State Department of Finance. The event will educate residents on the process of property assessment, which is carried out by the New York City Department of Finance and determines the amount of taxes a homeowner will pay on his home. The forum will take place at 8 p.m. at the Richmond Hill Block Association, located at 110-08 Jamaica Avenue.
“Property tax assessment season is upon us and we thought it would be a good service for homeowners to discuss how their houses are assessed and how they can appeal decisions made about the value of their property,” said Miller.
