Paint ‘Mother Nature’ at Maple Grove

Has Mother Nature ever inspired you to pick up a brush and put paint to canvas?

The Center at Maple Grove Cemetery is welcoming all interested individuals to come together and paint artistic masterpieces – inspired by the nearby landscape. The event will be held in the Celebration Room at Maple Grove in Kew Gardens, located at 127-15 Kew Gardens Road, on Saturday, March 13 from 1 to 3 p.m.

“It’s an amazing room and building, and we’re aiming to introduce people to the neighborhood,” said Carol Lacks, a board member of Friends of Maple Grove.

Lacks described the room having a water display with “beautiful, tremendous windows.” People can look out and see different trees, monuments and different angles of the nearby cemetery. Local artist Mandy Gor will also be at the event for encouragement and artistic advice.

Sponsored by Friends of Maple Grove, Inc., the event welcomes artists of all levels from beginning to advanced. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors, and free for all Friends of Maple Grove members. Artists must bring their own art supplies.
