A time to give back

Representatives from White Castle, St. Demetrios of Astoria, NYPD and members of the East Elmhurst community helped make the annual Toys for Tots toy drive at St. Michael’s Cemetery another successful venture. Bags filled with unwrapped toys as well as various monetary donations flooded the chapel on Friday, December 3.
“Since St. Michael’s serves families at the worst of times, we want to serve families at the best of times, too,” said Edward Horn, director of sales, marketing and community relations at St. Michael’s. “During present economic circumstances, this toy drive is a necessity of anyone that cares for families to keep children happy and looking forward to the holidays.”
Toys and other donations were collected by U.S. Marines Sergeant Joshua Mathews and Corporal Kevin Killela to be sorted and distributed by Toys for Tots to families in need.
