APPOINTMENTS

Amalgamated Bank – which has four locations in Queens – recently appointed banking veteran John J. Governale First Vice President where he will focus on commercial and industrial lending to middle market companies. Formerly of State Bank of Long Island, Governale is the Board President of the Queens Centers for Progress and is a board member of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. He hopes to build the Amalgamated Bank brand in Queens and Brooklyn through constant networking and good business opportunities. Governale is native of Richmond Hill and attended the City University of New York – Queens College. He looks forward to the opening of a new Amalgamated branch in Jackson Heights in 2011.

TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, has named Richard F. Hay a Senior Loan Officer-Vice President in Commercial Real Estate in New York City. He will manage TD Bank’s multifamily financing business, providing customized lending solutions to clients throughout the bank’s footprint from Maine to Florida. Hay has 30 years of experience in banking and lending. Prior to joining TD Bank, he led the multifamily warehouse lending division at GMAC and Washington Mutual in Maryland, and before that held a similar position at Chase Manhattan in New York City. Hay is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association.

A resident of Garden City, N.Y., Hay is a 1972 graduate of Pace University. He is a native of Jamaica, N.Y. and graduated from Brooklyn Prep High School.

TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, has named Thomas C. Murray the Managing Director in TD Equipment Finance in New York City. In his role as an Equipment Finance Team Leader, he will lead his department’s large corporate equipment financing and capital markets initiatives, focused on growing and building both across TD Bank’s footprint from Maine to Florida. A New York City resident, Murray has more than 26 years of experience in structure leasing and commercial lending.

HONORS & AWARDS

Allstate agency owners Siniata and Ramdial Kishun, whose offices are located at 110-09 Liberty Avenue in Jamaica, were recently named Agent Heroes by Allstate Insurance Company’s New York Region, and awarded $500 grants each for a local youth program, for a total donation of $1,000. The Kishuns donated the grants to the South Queens Boys & Girls Club (SQBGC) in Richmond Hill, to support afterschool activities at the Club.

Raj K. Narayan, M.D., chair of neurosurgery at the North Shore University Hospital and LIJ Medical Center, and director of the North Shore-LIJ Health System’s Cushing Neuroscience Institutes, was recently honored by The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin of Queens and Long Island (AAPI-QLI). The prestigious award, presented at AAPI’s 15th Annual Gala on November 13, was conferred to Dr. Narayan in recognition of his many professional accomplishments over the course of his career.

As part of the Police Department’s regular outreach to the Muslim community, an open forum was held at the local Muslim Center of New York in Flushing at 137-58 Geranium Avenue on December 1. Approximately 150 residents, cops from the 109th Precinct and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly were present. The Muslim Centered honored five cops including Police Officers Bilal Ishaq and Mohammad Qureshi from the 109th Precinct; Detective Faisal Khan of the department’s Hate Crime Task Force; Sergeant Tahir Javid from the Counterterrorism Division and Sergeant Mohammad Nomani from Patrol Borough Queens North. – Natasha M. HOLIDAY PARTIES

Various Queens County bar associations held their annual holiday party on Wednesday, December 8. They collected gifts for the children of Forestdale, the over 150-year-old multi-service non-profit foster care and adoption agency in Forest Hills.
