Linda Monte

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Linda Monte is the president of the Greater Ridgewood Historical Society, an active member of St. Mathias Church in Ridgewood and a Girl Scout leader at St. Mathias working with Junior Girl Scouts (3rd and 4th graders). Monte also works with Camp Kaufmann in Rockland County, New York as a Girl Scouts of Greater New York site director. As a site director Monte puts an emphasis on outdoor education and assists when troops come to camp to ensure the safest conditions possible.

PERSONAL: Monte has been married for 33 years to Steve. They have three children together. Celina, 30, is married to Michael Russell, Eric, 23 and Patrick, 22.

OCCUPATION: Monte has been the Regional Chief of Operations and Regulatory Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the past five years. She has been with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for over 20 years.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Remembering to enjoy everyday” says Monte “To take it one day at a time, to enjoy what we have. Cherishing family and friends should be the top priority.”

FAVORITE MEMORY: “My most recent memory would have to be our daughter’s wedding last year. It was fabulous. A wonderful day. ” Monte adds “As a child it would have to be family vacations at the beach every year, it was glorious.”

INSPIRATION: “Everyday you want to make your own life and the lives of people around you better no matter how small or how large the activity, make it better whether making a really good dinner or making big decisions” says Monte “You can’t just stand on the sidelines, really participate. You’ve got to be part of it.”
