Happening at the Howard Beach Senior Center
HOWARD BEACH – A representative from Senator Joseph Addabbo’s office will be at the Howard Beach Senior Center the second Tuesday of every month to address constituents’ concerns, problems and questions.
All are welcome.
The Center, which will be open on Monday, September 5 – Labor Day – from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with lunch, refreshments and dancing to DJ Walter, offers “great restaurant quality meals” for those 60 and older for a recommended donation of $2.
They have a great variety of kosher foods, fish, meat, sides including a starch, vegetables and fresh bakery bread. The center also serves home-made soup, fresh or canned fruit, salad, coffee, tea and containers of milk. Center members also have access to many social activities, from billiards to bus trips.

‘A Night at The Races’
SOUTHWEST QUEENS — The Rotary Club of Southwest Queens will present “A Night at The Races” on Friday, September 23 at La Bella Vita, 106-09 Rockaway Boulevard, Ozone Park.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door; fee includes buffet dinner with soda and wine. There will also be a cash bar. Doors open at 7 p.m.

All proceeds will go to support the projects of the Rotary Club of Southwest Queens.
These include, but are not limited to:
– Food Pantry of Our Lady of Grace Ministry of Care Services food pantry in Howard Beach, which supplies food to needy families in the Howard Beach area.
– New York Families for Autistic Children.
– Jamaica Hospital’s Trump Pavilion for Nursing and Rehabilitation
– PKD Foundation, which supports programs relating to polycystic kidney disease.
– PolioPlus, a program created by Rotary International to immunize all the world’s children against polio.
The Club also regularly holds informative seminars open to the public, such as “How to Use Social Networking to Promote Your Business”; “How Secure is Your Home?”; and “Long Term Care and Estate Planning.” These seminars make use of the expertise and business contacts of individual members.
