“The people in the district have spoken and they said they want a new generation of political leadership,” said Goldfeder. “I’m going to prove that we have the ability to keep this district strong.”

3 p.m. – Congressional candidate David Weprin said people should vote for him because he “will fight for Social Security and Medicare;” also said Republican Bob Turner is “wrong for Queens” and that his policies are “divisive.”

An altercation between current 28th District Councilmember Ruben Wills and Allan Jennings, who is running for the seat, occurred outside August Martin High School after Wills had voted. [See video]

Wills approached Jennings asking him to apologize for running a negative campaign that included his wife, Marcia, and daughter, Jolisa.

“If you want to do these things, be man enough to address them and speak to my daughter and my wife,” Wills said.

Both Jennings and Wills are confident in the campaigns they ran and expect to win.

“We ran a good grassroots campaign,” Jennings said. “We did everything right. We went out door to door and I’m very confidant.”

We’re very confident. We have a great campaign team and expect a win,” said Wills. “The community knows we care and love them.”

12:03 p.m. – As of 10:45 a.m. only 38 voters had turned out at August Martin High School in Jamaica. Though site coordinator Jean Randolph-Castro expects a bigger turnout this afternoon.

11:17 a.m. – Weprin will be appearing with Senator Toby Stavisky and Councilmember Karen Koslowitz at the Self Help Austin Street Senior Center in Forerst Hills at 11:30 a.m.

9:36 a.m. – Congressional candidate David Weprin is stumping around Queens, including a stop at a polling place at 2:30 p.m. in Kew Gardens. He will be greeting voters – however, he will not be voting because he does not live in the district.
