Vandal Trespassed To Smear Subway Cars

A prolific graffiti vandal from France is scheduled to turn himself in to police this morning, Thursday, Jan. 26, for allegedly smearing his tags onto a subway train at the Fresh Pond Road train yard in Ridgewood last October, sources told the Times Newsweekly.

Maxime Bezat

Maxime Bezat, 25, of Paris was originally arrested in Boston, Mass. in December for allegedly vandalizing trains on its subway system. Law enforcement sources said he was extradited back to New York City on Dec. 27, 2011 and arraigned on criminal mischief charges for spray painting tags on trains in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Reportedly, Bezat will surrender to officers from NYPD Transit Dis- trict 20 at their headquarters located inside the Van Wyck Boulevard subway station in Briarwood for tagging train cars at the subway depot at the Fresh Pond Road station.

According to sources, MTA officials discovered in early October 2011 that a security fence had been breached at the train yard and that one of the cars had been defaced with a tag, which was eventually linked to Bezat.

Police said the MTA estimates that Bezat allegedly caused $800 in damage.

Upon surrendering this morning, he will be charged with a felony count of criminal mischief and additional counts of making graffiti and trespassing, sources said.
