Papavero Is 10th Member Of Panel

Maspeth Federal Savings announced the addition of Joseph B. Papavero to its board of directors. His appointment as an advisor director started in January and elevates the board to a 10-member panel.

Papavero represents the fourth generation of Papavero Funeral Home. He was born in Brooklyn on Nov. 18, 1960 and grew up in Maspeth. He graduated from St. Adalbert’s Elementary School in 1973 and Msgr. McClancy High School in 1977.

From there, Papavero pursued his college career and earned a mortuary science degree from SUNY Farmingdale; he then became a licensed funeral director after serving an apprenticeships at Farmingdale, Frank E. Campbell Funeral Hme and Riverside Chapels.

In 1981, he joined his father at their family funeral home and continues that tradition today.

Papavero is a life-long resident of Maspeth and remains active in the community. He serves as a board member of Maspeth Town Hall, president of the Maspeth Lions Club, vice president of the Maspeth Chamber of Commerce and is a member of Queensboro UNICO, Our Lady of Hope Holy Name Society, Communities of Maspeth and Elmhurst Together (COMET) and the Cardinal Spellman Knights of Columbus.

He is also a member of a number of professional organizations includtreme ing the New York State Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, the Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association and is a past board member of the Catholic Cemetery Guild.

Joseph married his wife, Maria, in October 1982 and raised his family in Maspeth. He has three children, Joseph, Graceann and James.
