In advance of Passover, which begins at sundown on Friday, Apr. 6, the Chabad of Long Island City recently hosted its first annual “Passover Fair & Model Matzah Bakery.” Local vendors such as Court Square Wine and Food Cellar & Co. hawked their Kosher for Passover items to local residents, and local children made shmurah matzah-matzoh whose grain has been specially supervised to ensure that no leavening has occurred, and which is usually handmade.
