Legislation On Job Limits, Records
Partnering with residents, Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder has recently sponsored legislation that will keep an eye on dangerous sex offenders, ensure the well being of children, increase awareness and help make southern Queens and the Rockaways safer.
The first bill (A.856-A) would prohibit owners of multiple dwellings, such as apartment complexes, from hiring Level 2 or Level 3 sex offenders as a building superintendent or manager.
A second piece of legislation (A.1752) would keep Level 3 sex offenders from working within 500 feet of a school or day care.
Finally, the third bill (A.8916) would require all Level 3 offenders to have a new photo taken every 90 days; this measure would ensure that most dangerous offenders more easily recognizable.
“Last November, diligent residents of Lindenwood were diswhen tressed when they discovered that a convinced sex offender had moved into their neighborhood by sheer coincidence and not through standard protocol” said Goldfeder. “We immediately gathered along with representatives from Parent’s For Megan’s Law and the Crime Victims Center to discuss how we may make our community safer. I have since prioritized protecting our children as one of my chief legislative agendas.”
“While we do all we can to keep these dangerous sex offenders away from our children, we also need to stay vigilant and informed [of] the dangers out there,” Goldfeder concluded. “I will fight to do everything I can to ensure our children can live in the safe community they deserve.”
