Part Of Security Awareness Campaign
Ridgewood Savings Bank announced that April and May are Security Awareness Months at the bank, during which it will be providing the community with important information on security enhancement.
The bank will also be offering free document shredding at 10 of its branches to help bank customers and community residents avoid identify theft.
“As a community-focused bank, we consider it a priority to enable people to protect themselves against fraud and identity theft, which are increasingly prevalent problems affecting us all,” said Peter M. Boger, Ridgewood Savings Bank chairman, president and chief executive officer. “This program makes it easier for residents of the communities we serve to shred their personal and confidential documents-a crucial preventative security measure-and to learn other ways to avoid becoming victims of fraud.”
The document shredding will be available during the following dates/times at designated Ridgewood Savings Bank branch locations, including:
– Saturday, Apr. 14, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Main Office, 71-02 Forest Ave., Ridgewood; and
– Saturday, Apr. 28, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Astoria branch, 43-14 Ditmars Blvd., Astoria.
People can bring their documents to the bank branch on the day of the event at the noted times (reservations not required) and place them in a hopper. There is a two carton limit of personal documents to be shredded per household. USA Shred will shred the documents compliments of Ridgewood Savings Bank.
Throughout April and May, Ridgewood Savings Bank will be providing a “Protect Privacy” booklet at its branch locations. The booklet includes various important security tips that can help people avoid fraud and gain peace of mind.
