Group Stabs Teen In Bushwick Assault

While playing a basketball game in a Bushwick schoolyard, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed and beaten up by an unidentified group of attackers last Friday night, May 11, it was reported.

The teenager was hospitalized in stable condition with a stab wound to his chest, police said.

According to law enforcement sources, the attack occurred at around 6:40 p.m. last Friday in the courtyard of P.S. 299, in the vicinity of Madison Street and Evergreen Avenue.

Reportedly, the teenage victim was with friends playing basketball when they were approached by a mob of 10 to 20 individuals. They were described by authorities as Hispanic or African-American males.

Published reports noted that the teenager then ran and tried to jump over a fence, but the group gave chase and accosted him. The suspects then reportedly kicked him and struck him with sticks and bottles about the body.

During the assault, one of the perpetrators stabbed the youngster in the chest with a kitchen knife, authorities noted.

Members of the 83rd Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene shortly thereafter. The victim was brought by paramedics to Kings County Medical Center for treatment.

No immediate arrests were made, and the case was presented to the 83rd Precinct Detective Squad for further investigation, police said.
