Rienzi and Sons worked their record to an even 3-3 with a weekend sweep of Middle Village Hand Car Wash in a home-and-home series.

On Saturday, May 5, Rienzi celebrated Cinco de Mayo and a 6-2 victory.

Sam Navarra got the start for Rienzi and kept the opponent to only three hits and one run through three innings. August Larsen finished the last three innings to get the save. Larsen allowed only one run over the final three innings while striking out five. He was helped by a heads-up double play from shortstop Derek Portalatin.

The game was knotted at 1-1 through four as Rienzi pitchers were evenly matched by Mike Eberlein from Middle Village Hand Car Wash. Eberlein allowed only one run over four innings while striking out 11. The only run he allows was scored by A.J. Leggio, who came around to score ona stolen base. After four innings and the score tied at 1, Rienzi scored four in the fourth and added an insurance run in the sixth.

Big hits in the inning came from Navarra who drove in Moussa, andAidan Mooney who drove in two with a single and later stole home. Nicholas Hutson scored the final run after hitting a hard line drive up the middle and scoring on a stolen base.

In the second game of the weekend series, Rienzi handed the ball to Portalatin for the start. He pitched into the fourth inning and allowed just three runs while striking out eight and yielding just one hit.

The catching duties were handled by Todaro, who turned in a good performance behind the plate, throwing out one baserunner attempting to steal second and tagging a runner out in an attempt to steal home.

Todaro also had a good day at the place, with a single, a walk and two runs scored.

Mooney came in to finish the fourth inning, followed by Leggio, who made his season debut on the mound.
