Wants To Maintain Contract To Operate Center
Barring a last-minute reprieve, management at the Horace E. Greene Day Care Center will hand over the keys to their facility at midnight tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 28, representatives stated at a Monday, Sept. 24 press conference in Bushwick.
The center, run by the Bushwick Improvement Society since its inception in 1969, will be operated by the Bushwick United Housing Development Fund Corporation under a new contract with the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS).
According to Antonio Reynoso of City Council Member Diana Reyna’s office, the city is combining Head Start child care and early education in their EarlyLearn initiative, and looking for the federal money from the Head Start program. Bushwick United operated five Head Start facilities in Bushwick and Williamsburg.
