Children and parents at P.S. 229 recently joined City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and representatives of the Communities of Maspeth and Elmhurst Together (COMET) civic association and Maspeth Town Hall to unveil new “Drug-Free School Zone” signs at the Woodside school. As noted, the signs aim to raise public awareness and prevent the illegal use of alcohol and drugs near the campus. Joining Van Bramer in this photo are COMET President Rosemarie Daraio, Community Board 2 member Richard Gundlach, Maspeth Town Hall President Eileen Reilly and members of the Haggerty family of Woodside.
