Long Island City really knows how to party.
Locals poured out for SculptureCenter’s first annual LIC block party on Saturday, September 8.
Held in conjunction with the Purves Street Block Association, the event featured a day full of family-friendly yet artistically influenced entertainment. Guests enjoyed tarot readings, arts and crafts sessions, face painting, carnival games and balloon making, surrounded by temporary sculptures created by local artists.
Vendors selling handmade wares like artisanal soaps, gorgeous jewelry and unique T-shirts set up shop inside an empty warehouse on Purves street and chatted with patrons who browsed through their goods, looking for unique finds.
Snacks at the event were provided by local eateries Alobar and LIC Market.
A local DJ was on hand, spinning upbeat tunes that created the perfect party soundtrack.
The event also featured live performances from Mariachi Flor de Toloache, The Kate Bush Dance Troupe, Queens Jazz Overground and Neal Medlyn.
