Firefighters rushed to All Faiths Cemetery in Middle Village last Tuesday morning, Aug. 28, to put out a one-alarm fire that broke out inside a garage on the burial grounds, authorities said. Reportedly, the blaze ignited at around 7:20 a.m. inside the storage area in the cemetery located off the intersection of Metropolitan Avenue and 69th Street. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 319, 286, 291 and 287; Ladder companies 135, 140 and 136; Squad Co. 288; Rescue 4 and Battalions 28 and 46-under the direction of Division 14-along with the 104th Precinct and EMS units. No injuries were reported.
