KEW GARDENS — A Corona woman was sentenced to 11 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty in June to shaking an infant she was baby-sitting, resulting in his death, the Queens district attorney’s office said.
Ana Delarosa, 28, of 39th Street and 104th Avenue, had been baby-sitting 3-month-old Addison Reinoso-Xoyatla at her residence Dec. 29, 2010, when the boy started crying, the DA said. After at first being unable to console the infant, she shook the baby, who went limp, the DA said. Delarosa sought help and the baby was taken to the hospital, but he died Jan. 4, 2011, the DA said.
Addison’s illness had attracted citywide attention because it took place during the 2010 post-Christmas snowstorm, which closed down roads and made response times difficult for emergency vehicles.
Justice Richard Buchter sentenced Delarosa to 11 years in prison for assault and manslaughter, the DA said. After she completes the sentence, she will be deported to Mexico, where she is from, the DA said.
