Family and friends of the late Geraldine Ferraro gathered at the corner of Ascan Avenue and Austin Street in Forest Hills as a street was renamed in her honor on Sunday, Oct. 28. Among those attending the ceremony were City Council Member Daniel Dromm (far left), Rep. Carolyn Maloney (third from left), her husband John Zaccaro (fourth from left, holding sign), Comptroller John Liu (fifth from left, behind Zaccaro), Assemblywoman Grace Meng (sixth from left), City Council Member Karen Koslowitz (seventh from left) and Borough President Helen Marshall. Ferraro, who died last year, began her political career representing the area in Congress; was also a former vice presidential candidate.
