Boy Killed In Ridgewood Accident

Every parent’s worst nightmare became a reality for the father of a seven-year-old boy who was struck by an SUV after running out into a Ridgewood street last Thursday night, Jan. 17, it was reported.

Police inspect the scene in Ridgewood where a seven-year-old boy was fatally struck by a car last Thursday night, Jan. 17.

Law enforcement sources identified the victim as Puran Thapa.

Police said the accident took place at around 6:50 p.m. last Thursday at the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Madison Street.

According to published reports, Thapa was walking with his father through the area when the young child suddenly darted away from him and ran out into Myrtle Avenue.

As he did so, authorities said, Thapa was hit by a 2002 Toyota SUV traveling eastbound on the roadway. Reportedly, the driver stopped the vehicle and remained at the scene.

Officers from the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Paramedics rushed Thapa to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

No charges were filed against the driver and no criminality is suspected, authorities noted.

The NYPD Accident Investigation Squad is continuing its inquiry into the case, police said.
