Communities Celebrate and Applaud Sacrifice

Sunday’s Memorial Day Parade along Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills featured entertainment including the NYPD Pipes and Drums (as shown above), which performed patriotic tunes. Service members were at the front of the line during the Woodside Memorial Day Parade held on Monday along Woodside Avenue and other local streets (left photo). A more solemn Memorial Day observance took place last Saturday, May 25, at Cypress Hills National Cemetery (bottom photo), as area Boy and Girl Scouts helped to lay American flags at the tombstones of interred veterans.
