The victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Conn. were remembered in a special way by the children of P.S. 68 in Ridgewood, who unveiled an memorial plaque and planted shrubs last Monday, Apr. 22. As noted, the 26 plants were placed in front of the school in memory of the 20 children and six educators who were gunned down in December 2012. The ceremony featured a performance by the P.S. 68 chorus, during which the names of the victims were read and green ribbons were tied to the school fence. At the conclusion of the ceremony, students released 26 helium balloons into the sky.
