Sacred Heart School in Glendale won the Inspiration Award at the LEGO robotics competition held Jan. 25. The school participated in a Queens Qualifier, part of the First LEGO League’s international competition, which drew more than 250,000 children from 80 countries this year. Kids were asked to research a natural disaster and find a solution. The students from Sacred Heart learned about avalanches in Alaska and created a jet pack that would help Alaskans fly to safety in the event of an avalanche. In the photo, team members Anthony Gerace, Dominic LoBosco, Nicholas Mezic, Lukas Mezic, Alejandro Scacalossi and Christopher Vollmerhausen show off their trophy.
