Maspeth residents celebrated Earth Day a few days late at a recycling fair held by Maspeth Federal Savings bank and City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley last Saturday, Apr. 26. Residents came to the bank’s parking lot on 69th Street at Grand Avenue to deposit old or broken electronic devices and have important papers shredded for free. Members of the 104th Precinct were also on hand to provide VIN etching, a technique designed to guard against auto theft and lower auto insurance premiums. Among those pictured at the event are Crowley; Rosemarie Daraio, president of the Communities of Maspeth and Elmhurst Together (COMET) civic association; and P.O. Brenda Hyatt of the 104th Precinct Crime Prevention Unit.
