Queens Borough President Melinda Katz stood for the playing of Taps during the Memorial Day ceremony she hosted on Thursday, May 22, in the Veterans Memorial Gardens of Queens, located in front of Queens Borough Hall in Kew Gardens. Joining her were State Sen’s. Joseph Addabbo Jr. (l.) and James Sanders Jr. The color guard was from the JROTC program of Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows. During the ceremony, Katz participated in the laying of a wreath in memory of the nation’s war dead and spoke about the importance of honoring everyone who serves, or has served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
