Cuff Man Connected To R’wood Attack
Detectives picked up a Manhattan man last Friday, June 20, who allegedly worked with two unidentified males to attack three people on a Ridgewood block earlier in the month, law enforcement sources said.
Police identified the perpetrator as 26-year-old Samuel Semprit of East 10th Street.
According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the assault occurred between 12:35 and 12:40 p.m. on June 14 in front of a residence on Woodbine Street between Cypress and St. Nicholas avenues.
Reportedly, Semprit and two other males approached and attacked two men, ages 34 and 39, and a 44- year-old woman. The group repeatedly punched each victim about the head and body.
The circumstances surrounding the attack were unknown and remain under investigation, law enforcement sources stated.
Following the attack, Semprit and the other suspects reportedly fled in an unknown direction.
Members of the 104th Precinct responded to the scene. The 34-yearold man was treated at a local hospital for a fractured orbital bone and other injuries.
The 39-year-old man and 44-yearold woman reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Based on information obtained during the investigation, the 104th Precinct Detective Squad tracked down Semprit last week. Following questioning at the 104th Precinct’s Ridgewood stationhouse, he was booked last Friday by Det. Jay Houlihan on charges of second- and third-degree assault.
According to court records, Semprit was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court last Friday, June 20, before Judge Gia Morris, who ordered him held on $7,500 bond or $5,000 cash. He is scheduled to return to court on July 3.
The investigation is ongoing.
