Rego Pk. Republican Challenges Addabbo

Rego Park resident Michael Conigliaro filed the necessary paperwork with the Board of Elections last week to accept the Republican and Conservative Party nominations for State Senate in District 15.

Conigliaro officially announced on Monday, July 28, his bid to unseat incumbent State Sen. Joe Addabbo this fall. He currently manages a successful real estate law firm and is an active parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Forest Hills. He is also the president of the Queensborough Community College Alumni Association.

“My campaign will focus on the issues that are important to the forgotten middle class; creating jobs, cutting taxes and making sure that the next generation has an even better shot at life,” Conigliaro said. “Quite frankly, it’s not enough to stand on the sidelines and simply complain about the status quo. I’m running for State Senate because I want to change things for the better. I believe I can make a difference.”

“As a businessman and an active member of the community, Michael Conigliaro will bring a strong voice to the State Senate for hardworking families in Queens, especially when it comes to cutting taxes, creating jobs and giving everyone an opportunity to succeed,” said State Senate Majority Co-Leader Dean Skelos. “He will be an excellent candidate and an outstanding state senator.”

“I’m supporting Mike Conigliaro because he’s honest, hard-working and understands that public service is a privilege, not an entitlement,” added City Council Member Eric Ulrich. “Mike will make a great State Senator. He’s the real deal and someone who we can count on to deliver real results. I’m proud to endorse him in this race.”

Queens Conservative Party Chairman Thomas Long said: “Now more than ever, we need to elect leaders who will fight for the taxpayers. Mike Conigliaro shares our values and will bring some common sense to Albany.”

Former Rep. Bob Turner added: “Communities, like mine, that were devastated by hurricane Sandy need a strong voice in the State Senate fighting for them. Mike Conigliaro is not a career politician. We can count on him to roll up his sleeves and get the job done.”

The 15th Senatorial district includes the communities of Belle Harbor, Breezy Point, Broad Channel, Far Rockaway, Forest Hills, Glendale, Howard Beach, Kew Gardens Hills, Maspeth, Middle Village, Neponsit, Ozone Park, Rego Park, Richmond Hill, Ridgewood, Rockaway Beach, Rockaway Park, South Ozone Park and Woodhaven.

The state primaries are Tuesday, Sept. 9, while the general election is Tuesday, Nov. 4. For information on voting, call 1-212-VOTE-NYC or visit www.vote.nyc.ny.us.
