Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, members of her staff and Community Board 10 Chair Betty Braton met with Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Commissioner Joseph Esposito at the OEM command center in Brooklyn on Wednesday, Aug. 27 and finalized details for the first of a series of OEM emergency preparedness presentations that will take place in Queens in partnership with the Borough President, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the National Guard. The inaugural presentation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Martin De Porres High School on 112th Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Rockaway Beach. The Borough President’s meeting with Commissioner Esposito also included a tour of the OEM’s operational facilities as well as a discussion of the office’s new disaster preparedness and recovery plans for Queens.
