Security video shows suspect wanted for an attempted rape on a Corona street

Police have released footage of a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman on an Corona street last month.

According to law enforcement sources, at 10:35 p.m. on April 28, a 28-year-old woman was walking in the vicinity of Junction Boulevard and 52nd Avenue when she was approached by an unknown man who tried to put his hands down her pants.

When he was unsuccessful, authorities said the suspect grabbed the victim in her groin area over her clothing, then fled the scene on foot.

Officers from the 110th Precinct and EMS units responded to the incident. The victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man with a goatee between the ages of 30 and 40-years-old, and standing 5 feet, 4 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, a purple and yellow baseball cap, and carrying a backpack.
