Cops are looking for a thief who burglarized an Elmhurst apartment and stole a huge pile of cash.
According to police, at around 9 p.m. on June 2, an unknown person forced open the door to an apartment in the vicinity of 54th Avenue and 83rd Street. Once inside, the crook stole jewelry and $20,000 in cash.
The apartment, authorities said, belongs to older tenants.
“I guess they [didn’t] like to put money in the bank; they got worried,” a law enforcement source said about the case.
The suspect, who was wearing a bike helmet, fled the scene on foot westbound on 57th Avenue. The 110th Precinct tweeted out a wanted poster with a photo of the suspect:
