An off-duty firefighter was arrested in Long Island City over the weekend and charged with driving under the influence and attempting to flee from police, according to the NYPD.

The incident occurred just after 11 p.m. on the night of Saturday, July 2, when officers from the 108th Precinct in Long Island City pulled over Victor Munoz, a 32-year-old off-duty firefighter, near the intersection of Center Boulevard and 50th Avenue near Gantry Plaza State Park on the Long Island City waterfront.

Munoz allegedly drove off and then jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to run away on foot but he was quickly apprehended by police.

Munoz was awaiting his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court over the July 4 weekend.
