Council Member Joann Ariola is hosting a pet supply drive to support local animal shelters in need.
The drive is running through Dec. 20, and her office accepts donations of paper towels, garbage bags, dish soap, sanitizing wipes, and peanut butter.
Donations can be dropped off at Ariola’s offices in Ozone Park at 93-06 101st Ave. and in Rockaway at 114-12 Beach Channel Dr.
Ariola has partnered with Zions Mission, MeowSquad NYC, Noah’s Arks Rescue, Puppy Kitty NYC, IttyBittyCity Kitties, and Bobbi and the Strays to collect supplies for the event.
So far, Ariola’s office has successfully delivered donations to MeowSquad in Howard Beach and Zions Mission, but she is encouraging constituents to continue donating to ensure the other participating shelters receive the supplies they need.
“As the busy holiday season approaches, many animal shelters face a shortage of basic supplies,” Ariola said. “This drive can help lighten the load by collecting essential cleaning supplies.”
Ariola emphasized that even small donations can make a significant impact. “Even the smallest donation—like a roll of paper towels or a bottle of dish soap—makes a big difference for those tirelessly caring for our animals in need,” she added.
Ariola also expressed gratitude to her constituents and a local business, Brothers Italian Food World in Howard Beach, for their support. “Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, and especially to Brothers Italian Food World, which delivered a big shipment of garbage bags and paper towels. These will definitely help, but we still need a lot more to really get our animal heroes through the season,” she said.
