Queens Theatre is kicking off its winter season with a celebration of movement and artistry, featuring two world-renowned dance companies that promise to captivate audiences with their high-energy dance productions.

Internationally acclaimed dance troupe Pilobolus will perform their season opener re:CREATION on Saturday, Feb 8, at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Feb 9, at 2 p.m.  Then, in March, RIOULT Dance New York returns to the stage for its first performance in four years following its shutdown during the pandemic. The performances are on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m.

The two companies kick off the second half of the 36th season of Queens Theatre at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Queens Theatre executive director Taryn Sacramone said the organization is excited to “celebrate the resilience and brilliance of dance.”

“We are particularly overjoyed to host the triumphant return of RIOULT Dance New York, a beloved Queens Theatre favorite, following the challenges of the pandemic. RIOULT’s artistry, energy, and connection to our community make this comeback a special moment for all of us. Paired with the imaginative and athletic work of the world-renowned Pilobolus, this season promises to deliver unforgettable performances that uplift and inspire.”

Renée Jaworski, executive and co-artistic director of Pilobolus, said that Queens residents are welcome to “pre-game”  Super Bowl Weekend with the dance company’s performances. “Our performances are a celebration of creativity, athleticism, and connection, qualities that resonate just as much on stage as they do on the field. We can’t wait to share this transformative and dynamic experience with the Queens Theatre audience,” Jaworski said in a statement.

Pascal Rioult, founder of RIOULT Dance New York, added that RIOULT’s return to Queens Theatre after the four-year hiatus feels like a homecoming. Rioult added that the performance is a celebration of “resilience, creativity, and the unbreakable bond we share with our audience.”

“Queens Theatre has always been a space where our work connects deeply with the community. After all, it was one of the first venues that welcomed the company, and we are honored to bring our art back to life in such a meaningful way. We can’t wait to share these performances with everyone who has supported us along the thirty-year journey,” he said in a statement.

Tickets for both productions start at $32 and are on sale now.
