Are you headed to the beach this weekend? Maybe you’ll bring home a new friend from this Saturday during the Alliance for NYC’s Animals annual “Adoptapalooza” at Riis Park Beach Bazaar.
Billed as the city’s “original mega pet adoption event,” more than 100 cats, dogs, kittens and puppies will be ready for adoption from noon to 5 p.m. All of the animals have already been vaccinated and spayed or neutered.
Adoptapalooza will feature more than pets; there will also be activities that are both fun and informative. Dog licenses from the city Department of Health will be available for purchase. Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services will also offer free microchipping for pets.
The city’s Office of Emergency Management and Ready New York will also offer tips on how pet owners can prepare their four-legged friends for an emergency. Adoptapalooza will also offer some free giveaways such as personalized ID tags and photos from the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s animals.
