The Bayside boys basketball team took a 29-point lead into the half against Springfield Gardens High School and cruised to a 85-56 win in the opening game of the 13th annual Northeast Queens Tipoff Classic at Francis Lewis High School Sunday.
The Commodores (6-0, 2-0 Queens I A) hit the floor firing shots from the perimeter and jumped out to a 15-5 lead. The Golden Eagles (5-4) responded with an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to four points, but that would be as close as they got the rest of the way.
