Exhibitions

“A Date with the Eight” The Queens Museum of Art, New York City Building, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens presents “A Date with the Eight” on March 14, 2-4 p.m.. in conjunction with the new exhibit, “William Glackens: A Journey from Realism to Impressionism. In the early 1900s, Glackens belonged to a group of cutting edge artists known as “The Eight.” For more information, call 592-9700.

“The Archaelogogy of Queens” In February, the Bayside Historical Society, Bldg. 208, Fort Totten, Bayside presents an exhibition of artifiacts related to pre-Colombian native habitation of the LIttle Neck Bay area. It includes an array of artifacts dating back to 10,000 B.C.Call 352-1548. Also, visit an exhibit about Little Neck Bay as well as a Bayside Yacht Club exhibit.

“The Artists Exhibit” The National Art League, 44-21 Douglaston Parkway, Douglaston presents The Artists Exhibit through Jan. 28. “The Bayside Historical Society” presents a lecture to be given by two Native Americans on Feb. 5 and 12, 1-3 p.m. They will host a talk about the earliest inhabitants of the LIttle Neck Bay area, the Matinecock Indians. Call 352-1548.

The Flushing Remonstrance Millennial Exhibit has been extended through Jan. 30 in the Flushing Library's 3rd floor, International Resource Center Gallery. This rarely seen document, signed in 1657, is the oldest document demanding religious tolerance in America. Hurry in–the document will soon be returned to the State Archives in Albany. “Tiffany Family Day” The Queens Museum of Art features “Tiffany Family Day” on Feb. 13, from 1-4 p.m., featuring a host of events to celebrate the QMA Louis Tiffany exhibit: at 2 p.m., Three Feathers Music performs turn-of-the-century music; from 1-2 p.m. and 3-4 p.m., Ray Kluytenar, a stained glass artist, presents demonstrations; 4 p.m., screening of the video, “Tiffany Magic in Glass”; from 1-4 p.m., a Drop in Art workshop. “Introduction to Photography” The Flushing Camera Club will conduct seminars on photography starting on Feb 2 with an “Introduction to Photography.” Thereafter, the seminars will be on Feb. 16., March 1, 15 and 29, and April 5. Evening Screenings The Museum of American Moving Image announces evening screenings of international films to be shown on Saturdays and Sundays at 6:30 p.m. Featured directors include: Werner Herzog, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese. The series starts with “My Best Friend” (1999). Directed by Herzog, this is a documentary centering around the tumultuous relationship between the director and his favorite actor, Klaus Kinski.
