The officials said the Fire Department received nearly a half-dozen calls in only a few minutes, just before midnight, with some witnesses reporting flames shooting out of the windows of the frame house at 43-43 163rd St. Four minutes after arriving, the fire units transmitted an all-hands, a request for additional manpower, the officials said.
The fire was brought under control about a half hour after the Fire Department received the initial calls, the officials said.
