Senior Division
Transcreen 7, Gary Mann Productions 4. Mirroring their first game, Transcreen stamped a 3-1 lead on Gary Mann Productions in the early going on two goals from Mat Novak and one from Jimmy Raymond, his first goal of the season, with assists by little Anthony Binanti, Diego Rosa and Keith Lippert. But Gary Mann’s Tim Caffrey and Kenny McCrorie answered back with help from Joe Monte and Paul Giantiempo to end the first period at 3-2 with Transcreen on top.
As is turned out, Gary Mann was just warming up as the Caffrey and McCrorie show registered two more hits on net with Joe Monte and Matt Twomey providing backup to put Gary Mann on top at 4-3 midway through the second.
But from there, the Transcreen presses started rolling as Matt Lupoli, Jimmy Raymond and Keith Lippert all penned goals with the final end coming on a Matt Novak goal, his third of the game.
T.J. Moran, Matt Lupoli, and Anthony Binanti had assists. Outstanding in goal were Transcreen’s Chris Rodriguez and Gary Mann’s Mark Kleva, with a mix of strong two-way play from brothers Guy and Scott Semeniero, David Cho, Anthony DiFalco and Danny Ngo, all combining for an exciting game and great end-to-end action to watch, as both teams played some excellent hockey.
Major Division
Statewide Merchandising 6, Venezia Tile 5. In a terrific game that ended in overtime, Statewide laid out Venezia, 6-5. Venezia’s Derek LaMacchia opened the scoring in the first period and Statewide’s Matthew Conklin tied it less than a minute later. Tommy Monte buried the puck three times for Statewide, including the game-winner. Also providing some offense for Statewide were Stephen McGrory and K. Sarik-hani. Venezia’s scoring came from Sean Monsees, with two goals, B. Malo and C. Raffaniello.
Minor Division
Jesse Halpern 5, Mass Electric 2. In a hard-fought game, Mass Electric lost to Jesse Halpern, 5-2. Thomas Doheny and Ray Rosa scored for Mass Electric. Scoring for Jesse Halpern were Travis Lippert with two goals and an assist, Demitios Savva, Albert Markopolous and Eric Wong.
Erin’s Isle 12, Mass Electric 9. In a competitive game, Ray Rosa scored four goals, but it wasn’t enough as Mass Electric lost 12-9 to Erin’s Isle. Erins had a 4-1 lead after the first period with goals by Evan Kundrat (eight goals, two assists) and Mard DiPaolo (three goals, two assists). In the second and third period, the teams matched goal for goal. Also scoring for Mass Electric were Thomas Doheny (two goals), John Giantempo had a goal and three assists and Paolo Chioni added two goals. Anthony Pagano added additional score for Erin’s.
Jesse Halpern 7, Nancy & David Legaz ReMax Universal 5. In a see-saw battle until the end of the third period, Jesse Halpern outlasted ReMax Universal, 7-5. ReMax scored first off the stick of Thomas Renner. Jesse Halpern answered with a goal by Travis Lippert. Patrick Schule then put ReMax ahead 3-2 and Lippert again tied the score for Jesse Halpern. Jeffrey Johnston got into the action with two consecutive goals only to see Albert Markopoulos score three times to tie the game 4-4. Patrick Schule buried the biscuit again for ReMax, but Jesse Halpern’s Albert Markopoulos found the mark twice more to lead his team to victory.
