The Forest Hills Memorial day parade starts Sunday, May 25 at 107-15 Metropolitan Avenue, which is in front of the American Legion Post 1424. The stepoff is at 12 p.m. The parade will head down Metropolitan Avenue to Woodhaven Boulevard for about 1.25 miles. It will end at Remsen Park on Woodhaven Boulevard.
The Whitestone Memorial day parade on Monday, May 26 at noon will begin at the Whitestone Memorial Park located at 149th Street and 15th Drive. The parade will travel down 149th Street to 12th Avenue, where it will head right. The route will take another right onto 150th Street, down to 18th Avenue. The parade will turn right onto 18th Avenue and then right again onto 149th Street. The parade route will end back in the park. After the parade, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4787 invites everyone to the post at 19-12 149th Street for hot dogs, soda, beer, cake and coffee.
The Maspeth Memorial Day parade will begin at Walter A. Garlinge Memorial Park on Sunday, May 25 at 1 p.m. on Grand Avenue and 72nd Street. The route will take the parade down Grand Avenue until a right onto 61st Street. The parade will then make a right onto 56th Road, where it will merge into Clinton Avenue and continue back to Grand Avenue. The parade will end at Grand Street and 69th Lane.
The 65th Memorial Parade of Allied Veterans Committee of greater Ridgewood and Glendale will be held on Monday, May 26. The parade starts at Myrtle and Cooper Avenues at 11 a.m. There will be five bands and 60 sailors and Marines, seven veterans groups, numerous youth groups and even classic cars. The parades grand marshal is Al Banke from American Legion Post 104. The parade will go into Ridgewood from Glendale with services at both monuments. A service will be held at Myrtle and Cyprus Avenues at 1 p.m.
The Little neck
Douglaston Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 26 at around 11:15 a.m. begins at Jason Avenue and Northern Boulevard in Great Neck at the firehouse. It proceeds west on Northern Boulevard to the St. Anastasias schoolyard, close to 245th Street. The route is slightly less than 1.5 miles. The parade steps off at 2 p.m. in rain or shine. The old guard and the 3rd US Army fife and drum corps will be dressed as Revolutionary soldiers. The grand marshal is Eugene V. Lombardo, a retired Army colonel who served with the 3rd infantry division and has just stepped down as the executive director of the USO of metropolitan New York. There will be 12 marching bands, 20 pieces of fire equipment, Local 3 of the IBEW motorcycle club, the US Army Silent Drill Team, the Association of Black Cowboys and the guards for Arlington Cemetery. Also appearing will be bagpipeplayers, the USO Girls of Metropolitan NY, 100 motorcycles and color guards. They hope to see the mayor, the borough president and many elected officials.
The College Point Memorial Day parade will take place on Sunday, May 25, starting at 2 p.m. The route will begin at 26th Avenue on College Point Boulevard in College Point. Mayor Bloomberg and Borough President Helen Marshall have both been invited to participate in the event. Many of the areas elected officials are also expected to attend. A highlight of the parade will be the 100 member First Panamanian Drum & Bugle Corps of New York, with a large delegation of Army, Navy and Marine units also participating.
The Howard Beach Memorial Day parade, will be held on Monday at 11 a.m., begins and ends in Coleman Square, circling Howard Beach. Sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars, the event begins with a ceremony at Our Lady of Grace Church, 100-05 159th Avenue at 9:30 a.m. Beginning at Coleman Square, the parade goes to 100th Street to 157th Avenue to Wetzel Triangle (99th Street and 157th Avenue). Its route then goes west on 159th Avenue to 98th Street, south to 160th Avenue and then back to Coleman Square.

Astoria: McManus Park Memorial Park ceremony will take place at 81st Street and Ditmars Boulevard on Sunday, May 25 at 10 a.m. It will be hosted by the Port Authority and NYC Department of Corrections. There will be free refreshments and an invocation prayer. Veterans and members of the NYPD will be in attendance.
Jamaica: The 4th annual celebrity soccer match will be held at Roy Wilkins Park on Monday, May 26 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Merrick Blvd. and Baisley Blvd. Jamaica reggae artists will play against local teams. Sponsored by Irie Jam Radio Station 93.5.
