A Bayside man died after he slipped and fell on ice near his driveway Feb. 4, police said.
A spokeswoman for the city medical examiner said Bruce Bindner, 55, died of hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and blunt trauma to the torso and hip with fractures.
Police said Bindner, who lived at 58-20 202nd St., was discovered shortly after 8 a.m. lying face-up at the bottom of the steps to his driveway.
The spokeswoman for the medical examiner did not know if Bindner’s fall was caused by a heart attack but said his death was accidental.
Capt. Steven Braille, executive officer of the 111th Precinct, said Bindner fell on ice in his driveway, hit his head and died.
“He landed wrong, apparently,” Braille said.
Thomas Amalfitano, 45, who lived across the street from Bindner, said his late neighbor lived alone and was retired from Grumman Corp.
Amalfitano said he saw Bindner on the icy steps leading from the side of Bindner’s house to his driveway and called police.
“The block’s losing a nice guy,” he said.
