LONG ISLAND CITY — An Astoria man was arrested last Thursday after he allegedly tried to rob a bank at 31-17 Broadway, police said.
Matthew Traynor, 58, allegeldy entered the bank and demanded cash from a teller about 3 p.m. last Thursday, police said. An assistant manager activated the alarm alerting the police and Traynor allegedly fled. The assistant manager chased Traynor and stopped him at the corner of 31st Street and Broadway, police said.
Officers found an inert grenade in a bag Traynor allegedly left at the bank, police said. He was charged with attempted bank robbery, police said.
