Hofstra modern European history Professor Stanislao Pugliese presented an interesting and informative lecture on “The Vatican and the Jews” at the Honorable M. Marvin Berger Memorial Lecture at the Hillcrest Jewish Center in Fresh Meadows recently. A crowd of 90 heard Professor Pugliese explain that Italy had long favored Jewish doctors to treat officials yet kept them in a ghetto where they could be easily converted. In the photo to the right, Professor Pugliese answers questions from members of the Hillcrest Jewish Center.
