Ice cream parlor opens Bell Blvd.

When MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream Parlor and Treatery opens on Bell Boulevard it will not only offer some of the best ice cream in Queens, but will give back to the community before it can even make a profit.
As part of their Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, May 20th at 39-33 Bell Boulevard, MaggieMoo’s will be donating part of their proceeds to benefit Autism Speaks/NAAR and St. Mary’s Healthcare Systems for Children. MaggieMoo’s will contribute 20 percent of their sales from their opening to Autism Speaks/NAAR while St. Mary’s will receive 5 percent and $5 from every cake sold. “I’m looking forward to working a long time with these charities,” said Joe Cutolo, MaggieMoo’s owner. “It’s not just a Grand Opening thing.”
Also on hand for the opening, which will begin at 10 a.m. will be the Bayside Business Association, FDNY Auburndale Engine 320/Ladder 167, and FDNY Bayside Engine 306.
Cutolo, raised in Howard Beach, is excited about becoming a part of the Bayside community. “I like Bell Boulevard,” he said. “I used to hang out here in my younger years and it seems like nothing’s really changed.”
As part of their debut to the area, MaggieMoo’s will offer kids of all ages a chance to win free ice cream each week for a year. Miss Maggie Moo herself, a lovable seven foot spokescow, will be on hand, with lots of giveaways and raffle tickets.
MaggieMoo’s, the nationwide ice cream chain (they have 182 stores across the country), is the third of its kind in the city and first in Queens. They are known as the only ice cream to win all five blue ribbons (chocolate, dark chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and vanilla bean flavors) from the National Ice Cream Retailers Association.
Additionally, they make their award-winning ice cream flavors fresh and offer 40 original flavors, including the original Blue Cotton Candy, Better Batter and Espresso Bean that can be combined with the customer’s preferred mix-ins, such as nuts, fruits and candy. A salesperson then builds your creation right in front of you. “A new dessert experience,” is how Cutolo described his store. “It’s theatrical ice cream.”
